Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
On March 5, Kolkata Police conducted a significant raid in the Parnasree PS area, leading to the arrest of two individuals in connection with a cybercrime case. The arrested suspects, Tanmoy Sarkar (34) and Dinesh Jana (41), were taken into custody from the office premises of B.B. Enterprise, located at 495 Parnasree Pally. Sarkar resides at 109/1/B Satyen Roy Road, while Jana lives at 14A Jadu Bhattacharya Lane. The arrests were made at approximately 20:35 hours.
The raid was conducted under the jurisdiction of Parnasree Police Station, and authorities recovered several items during the operation. A total of 92 SIM cards, both activated and fresh, were seized. Additionally, two fingerprint scanner machines, two mobile phones, and Rs 42,300 in unauthorized cash were confiscated. The seizure was carried out in accordance with legal protocols, and a detailed seizure list was prepared.
The arrested individuals are now facing charges under sections of the Information Technology Act, 2000, including Section 66C, 66D, and 43, along with multiple sections of the BNS, 2023, and the Telecommunication Act, 2023. The case, registered under Cyber PS, Kolkata Case No. 13/25 dated 04.03.2025, remains under investigation. Police are working to trace the network and any other possible suspects involved in the criminal operation.
